The Gold Watch (2019)
Photographies and a gold watch
My dad was given a gold watch after being employed for 25 years at Norsk Hydro. I inherited the watch. The six portraits are of teenagers from Notodden, taken at a moment where they were unemployed. I made research-conversations with them about the meaning of work, with the golden watch as a starting point for our conversations. I photographed them in a studio while they wear my grandfather’s gold watch, where they each have chosen a posture from commercials of luxury watches.
Prodused with support from Fritt Ord, BKV (Billedkunstnernes Vederlagsfond), Kulturrådet and Fond for lyd og bilde.
Shown at Telemarksgalleriet in Notodden and Galleri F15 in Moss.
